The guided tours of St. Mark's Basilica have been organized in collaboration with the Procuratoria of San Marco. With the participation of a group of approximately 40 volunteers from the Office, from "Ars et Fides", International Federation of Volunteer Guides and from Association "Arc - Accueil, Rencontre, Communauté" the visits to the Basilica give all visitors, both tourists and the diocesan congregation, a biblical-theological interpretation of the mosaics.
Calendar for free visits to St. Mark's Basilica:
Tourists: from 12 to 29 of July and from 2 to 20 of August
Visits organized by the Office for Tourism Pastoral Promotion, in collaboration with the International Federation "Ars et Fides", who have trained young people from the various European countries so that they may conduct the tours in their native language:
Italian: 11.00-14.30 - 16.00
English: 11.00 a.m., 2.30 p.m., 4.00 p.m.
French: 11.00 - 14.30 - 16.00
Spanish: 10.30 - 14.30 - 16.00
German: 10.30 - 14.30 - 16.00
N.B. On Saturday the guided tours are only in the morning
No Guided Tours on Sunday and Feast Days
The meeting point is in the narthex of the Basilica (or in the entrance hall) near the main door, under the Dome of Creation.
Reservation is not needed for single persons. It is strictly necessary for groups.
Tourists: from April to June and from September to October. Visits available in different languages based on a weekly calendar.
Parish church group, listening groups, Catechists and people preparing for Confirmation: from November to March, on reservation.
For all other groups, tours are organized throughout the year on request and based on availability.
